Anyone who grew up in Brisbane has fond memories (foggy, maybe) of going out for a night on the town in Fortitude Valley, and more often than not it always ended at The Family.
A Brisbane icon, this valley nightclub paved the way for late night revelry and dancing ‘til dawn, and now, after 16 years and thanks to a HUGE renovation, The Family has rebranded as EI8HT!
EI8HT will bring a whole new approach to the nightclub scene in Brisbane: the venue itself includes multiple spaces each with their own identity, while the idea behind EI8GHT is to introduce a more inclusive approach to the Brissy nightlife scene.
In particularly awesome news, EI8GHT nightclub will carry on the infamous ‘Fluffy’ and ‘One’ nights on the weekends—must-do events if you’ve never been, FYI. Each night will feature a variety of performances, from local and international artists from a variety of disciplines including dance, burlesque, drag, DJs and more.
The jewel in EI8HT’s crown, though? The original rooftop space has been transformed into a totally gorgeous and unique bar space, called The Flaming Canary. Open Thursday–Sunday, The Flaming Canary is perfect for late night cocktails, even if you’re not up for a dance (we’re SO keen for rooftop cocktails)!
Whatever way you look at this, this is fantastic news for the evolvement of Fortitude Valley’s club scene—and, let’s be honest, our social lives.
EI8HT is due to open Saturday 17 June! Dancing shoes and your best outfit at the ready!
