After 16 years, Fortitude Valley nightclub The Family is getting a new name and a new image.
EI8HT is being billed as a ‘multi-faceted space with a more diverse range of offerings’ and a more ‘inclusive approach to nightlife’.
The venue will launch with two distinct club nights — ‘One’ on Saturdays, and ‘Fluffy’, a longtime staple at The Family, on Sundays. Special events will also be held on Fridays.
The Family’s Harry Katsanevas says it’s Fluffy’s reputation for acceptance, open-mindedness and diversity that EI8HT will be looking to build on.
“I’ve had the privilege of being a part of The Family since the beginning. It revolutionised the clubbing landscape in Brisbane and paved the way for a nightlife revolution in this city,” he says.
“I’m now excited to pave its evolution into an inclusive space, which I feel is missing in our community.
“This space will have a unique voice and showcase the most diverse forms of entertainment Brisbane has ever seen.”
Katsanevas says the venue’s Saturday night offering, One, will deliver something unique every week, with local and international performers from all of the arts, including dance, burlesque, singers, visual artists, DJs and drag queens.
The rooftop will also get a makeover, transforming into the chic and unique Flaming Canary Rooftop Bar.
EI8HT will open on Saturday 17 June. Samantha Jade will headline the opening night; tickets will be available on the door for $15.
